Morning, Happy International Women’s Day. I love being a woman. We get to do some pretty awesome things, and I feel so lucky to live in a world where anything is possible. I really believe that too. Yes, we have to multitask and feel a little stretch but we also get to feel empowered and have choice, which is something we should never take for granted. I love living my life with my two little women and cannot wait to see what they both achieve and grow into. We are all about girl power in our home. Nothing is impossible or off limits, life is short so we are planning to make the most of every opportunity and wonderful moment together.
So jeans. I have such a on off relationship with jeans. It all started with the Levi 501s in my teens. It is fair to say I was not blessed with coltish long legs in my teens. Mine were a little on the carthorse side and the boot leg style from Next that I first wore did me no favours. The came the skater jeans, which were meant to be worn baggy and nonchalantly sit on my hips, they did not and just exaggerated my chubby bottom. Skinny jeans came into fruition, oh how I longed to look like Kate Moss in them but alas I have a good pair of hips and real pair of thighs. Of course I persevered and still will throw them on.
I have recently started wearing straight true blue ‘Mom’ jeans from Topshop and I can honestly say they are the most flattering jeans I have owned. Super high waisted they skim over my tummy and also really flatter my bottom. There is no pulling them up all the time, no cutting into my hips which are there and should be celebrated. They look so great with a little heel, a little South of France with a classic ballet pump and very Marilyn Monroe with a heel.
It seems the High street agrees as there are so many great options out there at the moment. Here is my top pick and a little style edit of how to dress these up for Day or Night.
- Mom Jeans, £40, Topshop.
- Girlfriend Jeans, £53.55, Boden.
- Straight Leg crop jeans, £98.90, J Brand at The Outnet.
Date Night ( So need to do one of these soon, how can the time go so quickly without getting the chance to sit and have a meal and some time with Mr B)
I love a slip or camisole at the moment although I know we are just coming out of Winter so I would layer this brilliant slip over a plain white t-shirt for now.
Camisole vest, £14.99, H&M.
The dream shoes, I just love a Mule there is something super sexy about these ruby red slippers. I want them just to look at.
Red Satin mules, £59.99, Zara.
I love this shirt and brought it straight from the rail when I was shooting it. It is such a great fabric and fit. I went a size down as I wanted to it look fitted and tuck into my high waisted ‘Mom’ Jeans.
Striped shirt, £30, Next.
Ballet flats with a twist. These ones from Kurt Geiger are the grown up way to wear a ballet flat.
Bow Flats, £99, Kurt Geiger.
